چکیده

This contribution is a report on an on-going research aiming at the development of a speech recognition system for French, combining a standard HMM recognition tool with a syntactic parser. Because of the very high number of homophones in French and because several agreement rules spread over an unbounded number of words, we designed our GB-based morphological and syntactic parser to output a correct orthographic form from a lattice of phonemes produced by the front-head HMM recognition system. This resulting lattice of phonemes is processed by the syntactic parser, which selects the best word sequence according to its linguistic knowledge. The originality of this approach is the use of a syntactic parser, tuned to phonetic inputs, for a speech recognition task.

Lattice Parsing to Integrate Speech Recognition and Rule-Based Machine Translation

In this paper, we present a novel approach to integrate speech recognition and rulebased machine translation by lattice parsing. The presented approach is hybrid in two senses. First, it combines structural and statistical methods for language modeling task. Second, it employs a chart parser which utilizes manually created syntax rules in addition to scores obtained after statistical processing...

Improving Speech Understanding through Integration of Prosody and Syntax

As automatic speech recognition technology improves and as it is applied to more difficult tasks, the need to integrate with syntactic, semantic, pragmatic and knowledge-based system components will increase. This paper covers the development of models which relate prosodic phrasing to syntactic structure. These models are useful for understanding the linguistic aspects of the prosody-syntax re...

A Prosodic/Syntactic Model for Integrating Prosody in a Continuous Speech Recognition System

This paper presents a statistical model, which associates syntactic rules with prosodic cues in order to help a continuous speech recognition system produce sentence hypotheses. The system consists of the sequential coupling of a standard speech recognizer and a syntactic parser working on lattices of hypotheses by means of a Stochastic Context -Free Grammar (SCFG). The prosodic/syntactic model...

Syntactic and Semantic Knowledge in the DELPHI Unification Grammar

This paper presents recent natural language work on HARC, the BBN Spoken Language System. The HARC system incorporates the Byblos system [6] as its speech recognition component and the natural language system Delphi, which consists of a bottom-up parser paired with an integrated syntax/semantics unification grammar, a discourse module, and a database question-answering backend. The paper focuse...

Studying impressive parameters on the performance of Persian probabilistic context free grammar parser

In linguistics, a tree bank is a parsed text corpus that annotates syntactic or semantic sentence structure. The exploitation of tree bank data has been important ever since the first large-scale tree bank, The Penn Treebank, was published. However, although originating in computational linguistics, the value of tree bank is becoming more widely appreciated in linguistics research as a whole. F...
